Frequently Asked Questions
Real questions Central Ohio homeowners actually ask — about pricing, honesty, repair-vs-replace decisions, and what to expect. If you don’t see your answer, call or text 614-588-4826.
Trust & Honest Pricing
The HVAC industry has a real trust problem — the Better Business Bureau lists HVAC services among its most-complained-about categories, and most of those complaints trace back to the same handful of issues. Here's how My Choice handles them.
How do I know I'm not being sold something I don't need?
Every visit ends with a Confidence Report — a written record of what we found and why, before any work is authorized. Nothing is “just trust me.” And if you want another set of eyes before deciding on anything major, free second opinions are always available.
Another company told me I need a whole new system. Is that always true?
Not necessarily — this is one of the most common reasons people call us for a second opinion, and it’s genuinely common to find that a straightforward repair solves it. Sometimes replacement really is the right call, but you should see the evidence either way, not just hear a recommendation.
Why do you charge a fee just to look at my system?
The $89 diagnostic fee covers the technician’s time, tools, and travel to your home, plus the inspection itself — and it includes your full Confidence Report, not just a verbal guess. It’s the same reason a doctor’s visit costs something before any treatment starts.
Will you pressure me to decide on the spot?
No. You won’t hear a “this price is only good if you sign today” pitch from My Choice. Repair and replacement options are laid out in writing, and the timeline to decide is yours.
What if I want a second opinion on a repair or replacement quote?
Get one. Free second opinions are part of how My Choice operates, not an exception — and if another company already gave you a quote, we’re happy to take a look and tell you honestly whether it lines up with what we find.
Why this matters: a system that runs hard for a summer or a winter without a diagnosed issue can start to feel like every visit “somehow” finds something urgent. That pattern is exactly what the Confidence Report is built to interrupt — documented findings, not just a verbal recommendation.
Repair vs. Replace
How do I know if I need a repair or a full replacement?
Your Confidence Report lays out both paths with the reasoning behind each. As a rough guide: a system under 10–12 years old with one clear issue is usually a repair; a system 12–15+ years old with frequent repairs, rising bills, or safety concerns is worth a replacement conversation. Either way, the decision is yours.
My system keeps needing small repairs. Should I just replace it?
Sometimes, but not automatically. We’ll show you the repair history and condition side by side with replacement costs so you can compare — rather than assuming frequent repairs always mean it’s time.
Do you offer free replacement estimates?
Yes — free written estimates on any replacement, with no obligation.
Scheduling & Response Time
How fast can you get to my house?
In most cases, same day. Call or text 614-588-4826 and we’ll get you on the schedule.
Can I book an appointment online?
Not directly — we use a request form instead of open online booking, since Alex personally reviews every job before it’s scheduled. You’ll hear back by call or text, usually the same day.
Financing & Maintenance Plans
Do you offer financing?
Yes, financing is available through Synchrony for qualifying installation and replacement projects.
What's included in the maintenance plan?
Two system checks a year, 20% off repairs, 10% off indoor air quality products, 5% off new equipment installations, priority scheduling, and no overtime charges. Full-system coverage is $225/year; a single system is $120/year.
Does the maintenance plan include a Confidence Report?
Yes — every maintenance visit, plan or not, includes a Confidence Report tracking your system’s condition over time.
Guarantees & Warranty
What warranty comes with a new system?
A 20-year workmanship warranty on the installation, plus 10-year parts and 10-year labor coverage where applicable, and a 1-year 100% buy-back guarantee on qualifying new systems. Terms vary by product and manufacturer registration.
What if something gets damaged during a repair or installation?
If we damage your floors, walls, or home during a job, we’ll pay to have it professionally repaired — we won’t attempt to fix it ourselves.
Service Area & Brands
What areas do you serve?
Mechanicsburg and up to a 50-mile radius across Central Ohio, including Madison, Champaign, Clark, Franklin, Delaware, Union, and Logan counties.
What brands does My Choice install?
We’re a Ruud Pro Partner and also install Trane systems. We’ll service most other major brands as well.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes — Ohio HVAC License #49878, EPA Universal Certified, BBB A+ Accredited, and fully licensed, bonded, and insured.
All of this is built into the Confidence Report™
It's not a slogan — it's the actual document you get after every visit, showing what we found and what your options are.
